license your music

We are now entering the 6th week of the journey. The goal is to license your music or get your music licensed along with me. This is a case study that I decided to create under the tutelage of the homie Anthony Clint, Jr. I’m gonna keep it real with you guys and admit this ain’t easy LOL. But at the same time, I’m enjoying the process because when we finally get a placement, it will be all worth it.  Notice I said “we”.  Keep in mind that i’m starting from scratch so you can feel free to follow along if you’re in the same boat as me.

WEEK 6

Don’t Be Discouraged

license your musicDuring the last week I revealed that I was playing the waiting game after actually getting a response from one of the music libraries.  I learned that after getting invited to submit some tracks, that they were actually rejected.  Now this could be for a number of reasons.  It’s possible that they weren’t looking for the type of music I submitted.  Another possibility is that the sound quality was not up to par.  Was I a little bummed out? Maybe, but not really because I knew going in that this journey wasn’t going to be easy.  If you get rejected, do not (i repeat) DO NOT be discouraged.

Keep going and keep pushing.  For anyone who wants to learn how and license your music,  I like to use the analogy of a machine gun.  Just keep firing away until you hit something.  Enjoy the process and remember that this takes work.  I’m happy for anyone with placements already and just in case mixing may be an issue for some of you, below is a video discussing how a track was mixed.  This comes courtesy of the homey Clint himself.  And not to mention, this particular track was actually placed on MTV’s The Real World Go Big or Go Home, episode 12!  Go head bro!! Thanks for reading and if you have any questions or comments, drop them down below.. PEACE! Check out Previous Week
