Those of you who are looking for a convenient way to pull up gritty, underground, good ol’ boombap drums may wanna check this plugin out. It’s called Beat Machine 2 from the good folks over at dopevst.com. This is actually a sequel to their Beat Machine with quite a few additions. It’s basically a sample player which allows you to tweak individual drum sounds and record them into your DAW. The sounds are organized in small kits which are very easy to pull up for quick action. Let me tell you, there’s alot of kits in stereo and multi output versions.
Features
- 600 kits, 1200+ drum samples
- HipHop drums in the styles of East Coast, West Coast, Dirty South, Boombap, Trap, and more
- 50 MIDI drum patterns included
- Volume and pan controls for each individual sound
- Built in reverb, pitch, drive, attack and decay controls
- 5 drum pads for touch screen users
Pros
- Nice clean interface, easy to use
- Low CPU usage which means great for laptop and desktops
- USB/MIDI friendly for use with controllers
- Works for MAC/PC users
Cons
- Will not work with Protools due to the fact that it doesn’t support RTAS
Overall for the price of $95 I think these guys did a great job and below i’ve included a video messing around with Beat Machine 2 so you can see it for yourself. Check Pluginboutique.com for more info or if interested in purchasing.
