Upgrade Yourself
Getting ready for the new year, my mind has constantly been spinning. I’ve gone through a lot of changes in 2015 and I truly believe everything happens for a reason. If you are anything like me, you want to continue to excel in all you do. I mean, that is the main purpose of this website. If your desire is to stay on the journey of growth, you may want to upgrade yourself. This can have many interpretations but, I want to simply share 3 ways to upgrade yourself for the new year and beyond.
1. Your Mindset
In order to upgrade yourself and move to the next level, you definitely need to change your way of thinking. When I say change, that doesn’t necessarily mean that your current way of thinking is wrong. Maybe you just need to jumpstart it or increase the volume of your current mentality up a bit. Have the will to keep going when you get discouraged. Get the word TRY out of your vocabulary and replace it with the word DO. We can get so lazy at times and lose our sense of urgency. When that happens, we waste time which is a huge NO-NO in my opinion. So upgrade that mindset of yours to stay focused on the task at hand regardless of whatever obstacles come your way.
2. Your Tools
Some might disagree with this but I will say it anyway. To upgrade yourself, you may need to update your equipment. I’ve been preaching for a while “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” however times are moving and you don’t want to get left behind. I will be the first person to say it’s all about analog and blah blah blah, but I have decided to dive more into the digital world just because I recognize the benefits of the constant progression of technology. Are you still using Windows XP or the MAC G4 from 1999 or even a pager LOL! Let’s be real, it’s time to upgrade seriously. That’s not to say I’m gonna stop using old school drum machines or live instruments, but I will be adding to the arsenal with some major upgrades. Just in case you’re wondering, i’ll probably be shopping here. Plus, you will have a renewed energy to produce more when you update your studio believe me.
3. Your Brand
Last but not least, to upgrade yourself you need to upgrade your brand. Your brand is your individualism or that thing that makes you who you are. Some basically call it your personality. It doesn’t have to be your logo for those that think that. I’ve learned that your brand is extremely important for moving to the next level. Why not upgrade it? If you are on social media, update your pictures, head covers, descriptions, email signatures, ect. You spread your music and or message through your brand so you might as well present yourself in an inviting way. This lets people know who you are, what you’re about, and what you can do.
